The Foundation was established in 1995 by restructuring the Institute for Jurisprudential Research, which was founded in 1947 by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation in honor of Knut Agathon Wallenberg and his brother Marcus Laurentius Wallenberg. Grants in 2019 amounted to SEK 4.5 million.
